Scholarship Programs Information
The Patriot Foundation administers two scholarship programs, the NC Patriot Star Family RECOVERY Scholarship Program (Recovery Program) and NC Patriot STAR Family Scholarship Program (Star Program), through NC legislative funding. These scholarships are available to the children and spouses of fallen service members or disabled veterans, children of injured active-duty service members, and qualifying disabled veterans. Applicants must be NC residents and accepted to or attending NC postsecondary institutions. Disabled veterans, as the sponsor or applicant, must have a VA disability rating of at least 50%. The Recovery Program criteria also includes that the applicant’s household income must be less than 350% of the federal poverty level. Federal poverty guidelines can be found HERE.
The Recovery Program is no longer accepting new applicants beyond the Spring 2025 application cycle. It will continue to support existing Recovery Program recipients until the Spring 2027 award term, or degree completion, whichever comes first. Existing Recovery Program recipients must complete a renewal application using the application link provided to them for upcoming cycles.
The Star Program will continue to be open to new applicants for upcoming application cycles.
